U’s v Bromley, Setanta Shield 1R (09/10/07)

Final score: 1-2

In their first game since the resignation of Ian Hazel the U's were narrowly beaten in the Setanta Shield first round. Stuart Massey and Micky Stephens were in charge of the team and saw Sutton come from one nil down to bring the game back on level terms with a 49th minute Craig Watkins goal. Unfortunately, the home side only needed another six minutes to regain the lead and ultimately make it into the next round.

Team: Phil Wilson, Asher Hudson, Alan Bray, John Scarborough, Lewis Gonsalves (Nicky Greene), Tony Quinton, Jason Goodchild, Bashiru Alimi, Craig Watkins, Warren McBean, Jason Henry (Mark Hammond). Subs (Not Used): Liam Pestle, Zak Graham, Gareth Williams.

U’s v Lewes, FA Cup 3QR (14/10/07)

Final score: 0-1

The U's, backed by their vociferous support, were unlucky not to come away from the dripping pan with anything to show for a fine second half performance. Sutton went behind in the twenty fifth minute but then seemed to have the better of the rest of the game but the ball would just not find the back of the net. At the other end Phil Wilson and Lewis Gonsalves combined to superbly deny the Rooks what looked like a certain second, with a last gasp challenge and then a fine save.

Team: Phil Wilson, Alan Bray, Lewis Gonsalves, John Scarborough, Asher Hudson, Bashiru Alimi (Jason Goodchild), Nicky Greene, Craig Tanner, Jason Henry (Mark Hammond), Warren McBean, Craig Watkins. Subs (Not Used): Gareth Williams, Chris Beard, Zak Graham.

Goals: -

Lewes: S Williams, J Conroy, A Barness, S Wormull (P Kennett), S Robinson, I Simpemba, J Cade, T Davis (I Selley), M Groves (K Watts), P Booth, D Binns. Subs (Not Used): L Legge, A France.

Goals: Wormull (25)

U’s v Eastbourne (20/10/07)

Final score: 0-3

Sutton travelled to the South coast for the second weekend in succession, unfortunately the outcome was the same. The U's dominated for large periods of the game, but for whatever reason the bounce around the box would just not go their way. It was a completely different story at the other end though as Eastbourne took the chances that fell to them and came away from it all with a very flattering score line.

Team: Phil Wilson, Asher Hudson, Tony Quinton (Paul Honey), John Scarborough, Lewis Gonsalves, Bashiru Alimi, Jason Henry (Mark Hammond), Nicky Greene (Jason Goodchild), Warren McBean, Craig Watkins, Craig Tanner. Subs (Not Used): Alan Bray, Gareth Williams.

Goals: Harding (29), Armstrong (31), M Crabb (71)

A goal from Asher Hudson wasn't enough to spur the U's onto greater things after initially going two goals down.
